Happy Sunday guys, Hope you all had a great, sunny, relaxing, amazing, time!
Before meeting up with a friend (hey Kalina!) for a day of
drinking socializing, I went into gastown and explored a bit (or you know, spent some money…) Gastown is probably one of the more historic areas of Vancouver and holds some of the better restaurants and shops. I’ve eaten at a few places, although there are loads more I want to explore. Vancouver has a great food scene.
(See the Juice Truck above? They showed up at lulu over the week, which is when I tried one of their juices. Good, but their juices can go up to 8-9 bucks… eep)I stopped first at Finch’s, which has turned into my favourite place to eat. Yeah, I haven’t eaten at that many spots yet but the salads are by far some of the best I’ve seen/eaten. So yum, guys! I had the House Salad which had romaine, pear, walnut, blue brie, white balsamic, salt + pepper, and the option for some prosciutto. Hell yes.I don’t really get how my shot turned so soft, although the focus on the flowers in the front there probably didn’t help. I haven’t eaten at No. 1, but it looks pretty cool.. Anyone give it a try yet? Looks like A-OK in Toronto (..same?) Ohhh…. Nelson the Seagull. Yeah, pretty tasty there too! I had an americano and a rusk
South African biscotti (I don’t remember the actual name?) This is one of those places that everyone recommends, and for good measure. It’s cute! Had I not eaten just a bit before I would have had one of their fammmmous ploughman’s plates. Let’s talk about shopping! I’ve been doing a bit of that… I went through a major purge back home and have needed a few things to fill in the gaps (I probably only own about 30 things TOTAL in my wardrobe. Quality vs Quantity folks!)
I stopped over at Block – I don’t remember who recommended it it to me but yeah, great little place. Grabbed these sigerson espadrilles for 49 bucks too! Great space with good brands and a great selection of shoes.
I also tried Oak + Fort. I’d been there when I flew in for my interviews but didn’t grab anything then. I walked away with an oversized white linen shirt and a gold ring. Great stuff at somewhat reasonable prices too.
I’ll get to the east end at some point – keep hearing about the great shopping/food there. Can’t wait!
