I stumbled onto Frau Grau through Pattern Pulp and instantly liked her style.

She has a beautiful way with colours and shapes, and seems to be mastering the art of watercolor (I have always found it to the one of the trickiest kinds of art…)  So of course, I’m a bit jealous.  On the other hand, I really enjoy looking at her work, and figured you would too.

Kaye is an illustrator and designer, and Datter Industries is the jewellery arm of her creative endeavours.

My illustration background means I tend to make pieces with a drawing-based process and a story behind them. I like things dark but elegant, and my jewellery covers some of the same themes I explore in my illustration work: ritual, the occult, war, weaponry, animals, talismans. I like things to show signs of being handmade: nothing too clean or too perfect.

Have you seen Jiakuann’s work lately? Saw her work on Ez’s blog and fell in love. Gorgeous! I love these colours and textures, but what catches my eye are her drawings that combine unfinished pencil drawings with watercolours / photographs.  It’s a technique I’ve always loved and admired.  (Oh, and 10 points for anyone who can name the designer(s) the girls are wearing!)

Did I mention that she’s also available for work?  I’m sure an editorial featuring her work would look stunning (Hello Flare? Fashion? Elle Canada?)

Found this collection titled ” Over Time” via Haw-lin… The collection focuses on large-scale landscape paintings whose topographies are derived from graph data (for example the 3rd one is called “Marijuana Use Versus Music Sales Over Time.”  haha seriously.
